About Us
We are a small family run smallholding outside of Lewes, near Brighton East Sussex. As a family we are passionate about trying to leave a self sufficient life where we grow or rear as much of our own food as possible. We also try and grow as much food as possible for the animals we rear, as we strive to keep the food miles as low as possible.
We rear our own chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail, guinea fowl and rabbits, as well as having our own very small herd of milking goats for goats milk and cheese.
Food security and food independance is very important to us, and we also try and preserve as much as possible, whether this is by dehydrating, or pressure canning. We have learnt many skills and often have workshops where we teach other people how to also learn techniques that enable good food storage options, or short courses on rearing your own animals for self sufficient living.
We used our knowledge to help celebrity chef Marcus Wareing to learn smalllholding skills in the TV show "Tales from a Kitchen Garden" in 2022, and we appeared again in April 2023 where we teach forestry skills, making a goat seesaw, and advance chicken keeping for Marcus's Hens.
Please do get in touch if you would like to know more, or have a media request - we are always happy to help spread the homestead love.
