Our Chamois Poland point-of-lay (POL) hens are now available to reserve and collect from 1st February 2025. With their creamy white and soft golden crests, these hens are as unique as they are elegant. Polands require specific care and are best suited to keepers who can provide a dedicated flock or introduce them slowly over several weeks or months. At 17–18 weeks old, these fully vaccinated hens will typically begin laying small white eggs at around 24 weeks.

Care Instructions for Chamois Poland Hens

• Special Needs: Protect their crests by ensuring dry, secure housing and avoid overcrowding.
• Housing: Low perches and well-ventilated coops are essential to their health and comfort.
• Outdoor Tolerance: They thrive with Silkies, Pekins, or Sablepoots, but must be introduced slowly to minimise stress. They should ideally remain separate from hybrid hens.
• Feeding: Transition to layers' pellets at 18 weeks, supplemented with fresh greens.

• Flock Compatibility: Chamois Polands are happiest in small, dedicated groups or alongside similarly gentle breeds. They are not recommended for hybrid flocks and should not be placed in established flocks without a slow introduction.
