Product Description

If you’re looking to buy Poland chickens, you’ve come to the right place. At East Sussex Smallholders, we sell beautiful, pure breed Poland bantam chickens – often called Polish chickens – from February to August each year. These eye-catching birds are best known for their fabulous head crests, gentle nature, and quirky personalities that never fail to make you smile.

Our new season opens on 14 February 2026, and the first Poland chickens of the year often sell out fast, so it’s well worth getting your order in early. We also offer Poland hatching eggs for those who prefer to raise their own birds, and we usually have a small number of Poland chicks available during the season.

As pure breed bantams, Poland chickens should be kept with birds of a similar size and not mixed with hybrids. They’re a lovely choice for small flocks, family gardens, or anyone looking for something a bit special.

All our birds are reserved and dispatched in the order that bookings are received once we open for the season, so early reservations ensure the best choice and availability.

If you’re ready to buy Poland chickens, order Poland hatching eggs, or reserve Poland chicks, get in touch today and secure your place in our spring queue – before they sell out!

About Poland Chickens

The Poland chicken is one of the oldest and most recognisable breeds, believed to have originated in Europe several centuries ago. Their distinctive crests and upright stance give them a rather elegant appearance, and they’ve long been valued both for their looks and their friendly temperament. They come in a variety of colours and feather patterns, making them a real showpiece in any flock.

Polands are generally calm and curious, which makes them great pets as well as ornamental birds. They’re good-natured and enjoy gentle handling, though their large crests can sometimes limit their vision, so they appreciate a calm environment where they can feel secure. They’re not known for heavy egg production but will provide a modest number of small white eggs through the laying season.

Pros: Beautiful, friendly, easy to handle, and ideal for small gardens or family flocks.
Cons: Crests may need occasional trimming to keep vision clear, and they’re best kept out of persistently wet or muddy areas.

If you’re looking for a striking, gentle, and charming addition to your flock, the Poland chicken is an excellent choice.
