Quail Chicks are now available (Jan 2024). These are our Jumbo Quails - We breed our own Jumbo Coturnix Quail here and offer quail chicks, as well quail hatching eggs, and from March 2024, we have quail sexed female adults. You can buy quail chicks either on of off heat, as well as grown sexed female corturnix quail adults and youngsters. All our quail come in in various colours that you can choose from once you are here. Colours including Tuxedo, Fawn, White, Mottled, Brown, all reared here on our smallholding where we rear various colours of quail for quail meat and quail eggs. Young chicks will require heat until about 4 weeks old. In winter they will need to be inside, or in a shed until they are about 6 weeks old. In summer they can go outside at 4 weeks. Adults can go outside straight away, they are quite tolerant to the cold, but they don't like getting wet and cold.
We absolutely recommend a minimum of 5, any less and they can get too territorial once you put them in their housing. .
We also sell Jumbo Quail hatching eggs - these are available to post anywhere in the UK. Our jumbo cortunix quail are slightly bigger than the standard quail - and lay lovely sized quail eggs. They are considered one of the fastest-growing and largest of all quail, bred specifically for attaining a large size. At maturity, these quail have been reported to weigh up to 14 ounces. Jumbo quail are very solid production birds and are especially efficient for the small farm, smallholding, or even urban farms, which make these great for keeping as pets for children too, as they are easy to handle and really thrive in small space. They can be raised as alternative meat that can be raised quickly in a small space and with efficient feed usage.
These birds are vent sexed, they cannot be colour feathered sexed. Please note that we carry a large stock of quail hatching eggs and quail chicks.
