Our Orpington Hatching eggs are mixed colours, and we do have 50% Buff Orpington - so whilst we cannot guarantee Buff Orpington Hatching Eggs - you will get some Buff Orpington chicks from most batches. Every order is packed with real care: each egg sits securely in a polystyrene protective case, placed inside a strong cardboard outer, then sent via tracked UK delivery. Local collection is also welcome and usually offers the very best hatch results. On average, fertility sits around 80%, and posted hatch rates of around 50% are typical for shipped eggs — very normal and something we’ve seen consistently over many seasons of breeding.
If you’re new to incubation or just want a reliable reference, you can add a printed or digital Hatching Egg Guide to your basket. It covers simple but helpful essentials such as correct turning, humidity levels, candling tips, and how to set up a safe brooder for your chicks. A quick breeder’s tip meanwhile: once your eggs arrive, allow them to rest for 24 hours before placing them into the incubator to help stabilise the air cells after their journey.
We release Orpington hatching eggs in limited weekly batches to keep the rotation fresh, and early reservations get first allocation once laying picks up - please note if you order large quantities you will have to wait upto a week for dispatch.
Why Hatch Orpingtons?
Orpingtons are wonderfully calm, steady birds with a large, soft appearance and a lovely, friendly temperament. They make excellent additions to family gardens and smallholdings, producing a good number of medium-to-large brown eggs and integrating well with mixed flocks. Their gentle nature and reliable laying make them one of the most satisfying traditional breeds to raise from chicks.
