Point of Lay Garden Hybrid Chickens

We have 12 types of Point of Lay Chickens available for collection from 15th May 2025 - all fully vaccinated, friendly hybrid hens perfect for the garden. Choose from Light Sussex, Bluebelles, Farm Rangers, Rhode Rocks, Blue & Green Egg Layers, Speckledy, Marans, Cuckoo Marans, Calder Red Tails, and many more.

We absolutley recommend reserving your birds online before you travel—we often sell out of birds and not reserving or pre-ordering can means you may miss out on your favourite when you arrive! Once reserved, you can choose your exact birds in person once you are here, just don’t forget to bring a box. For directions, text or call, as sat navs aren’t always accurate - or just look out the the big YAFFINGALE sign on the fence.

Bluebell or Blue Haze hens are pretty birds, laying a slightly pinkish coloured light brown egg. Feathers look very luxurious and soft, a nice uniformed lady for a garden flock. They are the most relaxing though, but they look good.

Blue Egg Layers are the show stoppers of the egg box, although they lay a little less than other chickens, we still think they are worth adding to your coup as the eggs are very unusual.

Chocolate brown egg layers, also known as Copper Marans, or Black Copper Marans, lay the most interesting of egg colours. They lay less than "normal" birds, but we think they are worth it. Slightly Feathered feet on some birds.

The Amber hen comes in many different feather patterns, some are a very plain cream, some have chestnut brown feathers throughout their top coat. Each bird looks slightly different, but all have a chilled and laid back personality.

Pastel Green Egg Layers are the show stoppers of the egg box, and these ladies lay gorgeous green eggs - adding a bit of wow to your egg box.

Brilliant laying chicken of pale white, or pale cream-coloured eggs. Not overly friendly, can be a bit manic, but is very low maintenance, if you just want eggs, with no drama, she's your girl and won't get into any flock arguments. Very pretty markings - each hen is totally unique.

Classic Sussex Hen, typical markings with white body and black neck and tail feathers. Certainly very popular in the South of England, especially for the chicken keepers who live in Sussex. We often also have the Reverse Sussex, aka Silver Sussex, which makes a lovely pair.

Lilac splash - one of the prettiest birds, I love to pair these with a Bluebelle, as they look similar so blend well together, but different enough that you can easily tell them apart. One of the lighter weight ladies, creamy off white egg.

Silver Duckwing Leghorns are active, hardy hens known for their excellent egg production, laying over 300 large white eggs a year. Smaller than hybrid hens but full of character, they thrive in free-range setups and need plenty of space to explore.

The Cuckoo Maran is a plump pretty bird that can be a little bit lazy in personality. Maybe this is why it's often the biggest bird in the hen house. Also known as CouCou Maran or Barred Plymouth Rock Hen. Laid back nature, larger than average. Often does a double yoker...

Pretty Gold Speckled Hen, nice natured, robust, happy to be part of a flock, and lays around 300 eggs per year in a light brown colour. Also known as a Buff Speckley Chicken, these ladies really do add a touch of glamour to the flock.

This classic farmyard chicken, the most recognisable of all the chickens, ideal for your chicken run if you want a robust, docile, and friendly bird who will lay the most amount of eggs out of all your ladies. Hardest working in the flock, and definitely the friendliest.

Rhode Rock or Miss Pepperpot chickens are great for a darker brown coloured egg in your flock. They are easy to tame, and get on well with flock mates. Black hens aren't very popular when people see them online, but see them in real life and the glossy feathers are a seller.

100% the best layer and the easiest of all our birds, robust, no hassle, won't argue or get into any pecking order issues. Absolutely a great bird for practical reasons. Personality is very standoff ish, hard to bond with as they are just too busy foraging all the time!
