Product Description

If you’re looking to buy Sablepoot bantam chickens for your back-garden flock, our beautifully marked, friendly Sablepoot bantams are a brilliant choice. These eye-catching little birds are ideal for families, beginners, and anyone wanting to order pure-breed chickens online for collection from our East Sussex smallholding. Their feathered feet, striking Millefleur patterning, and sweet nature make them one of our most popular bantam breeds.

Our 2026 season runs from February to August, with the first birds available from 7tFebruary 2026. Sablepoot growers and pullets are released steadily throughout the season, and availability varies depending on hatch timings. You’re always welcome to visit and choose your own birds from the selection ready on the day.

As with all pure breeds, we recommend keeping Sablepoots either on their own or with other pure breeds of a similar temperament. They are true bantams and should be housed with birds of a similar size to prevent bullying. Good shelter, dry bedding, and secure night-time accommodation will keep them comfortable and healthy.

About Sablepoots

Sablepoots (also known as Booted Bantams) are a historic Dutch breed prized for their delicate looks, feathered legs, and charming temperament. They are true bantams with no large counterpart and are known for being gentle, friendly, and surprisingly confident. Their Millefleur colouring — warm chestnut with black and white speckles — gives them a standout appearance. They lay a modest number of small white eggs and are kept mainly for companionship, showing, and ornamental value.

Pros:
• Very friendly and good with children
• Beautiful Millefleur plumage and feathered feet
• Ideal for small gardens and calm mixed bantam groups

Cons:
• Low egg production
• Feathered feet need dry, clean conditions

If you’re after a small, gentle, striking little bird for your flock, the Sablepoot is a delightful choice.
