If you’re looking to buy Large Fowl Salmon Faverolles for your back-garden flock, these gentle, bearded chickens are a wonderful choice. Our pure-breed Salmon Faverolles are calm, friendly birds with beautiful soft colouring, ideal for families, beginners, and anyone wanting to order pure-breed chickens online for collection from our East Sussex smallholding.
Our 2026 season runs from February to August, with the first birds available from 14 February 2026. Large Fowl Salmon Faverolle growers and pullets will be released steadily throughout the season, with availability depending on hatch timings. Once you have placed your order, you can come and choose your own birds from the selection we have ready on the day - so be prepared - they are all so cute you may find it difficult to pick.
As with all pure breeds, we recommend keeping Salmon Faverolles either on their own or with other pure breeds of a similar temperament. Being a light yet fairly substantial large fowl, they are best housed with birds of similar size and nature. Good shelter, dry bedding, and secure night-time housing will keep them comfortable, confident, and healthy.
About Salmon Faverolles
Salmon Faverolles originate from France and are famous for their beard, muffs, feathered legs, and endearing, gentle temperament. The Salmon variety is particularly striking, with warm buff, cream, and salmon tones across the plumage. They are friendly, curious birds that usually integrate well with other pure breeds and enjoy human company. As layers, they produce a steady supply of tinted eggs and are known for being reliable and docile—ideal for gardens and smallholdings alike.
Pros:
• Exceptionally friendly, calm, and gentle
• Attractive salmon-coloured plumage with a bearded face
• Good, steady egg layers in a mixed pure-breed flock
Cons:
• Feathered legs require dry, clean ground
• Can be easily bullied by more assertive breeds
If you’d like a sweet-natured, pretty, and steady-laying large fowl, the Salmon Faverolle is a fantastic choice for any flock.
