Looking to buy Silkie hatching eggs for a spring hatching project? These silkie hatching eggs are now open for pre-order, with the first batches expected to begin dispatching from early May 2026. As always, eggs are collected fresh to order from our small, well-managed Silkie breeding pens. Should our little Silkies start laying earlier than usual, you’ll be contacted straight away so we can offer you an earlier delivery slot.

Our fertile Silkie eggs are carefully packed in polystyrene shippers inside strong cardboard outers, then sent via tracked UK delivery for peace of mind. You’re also very welcome to collect locally — a great option if you want to give your hatch rate the very best possible start. Fertility generally runs around 80%, with posted hatch success averaging about 50%, which is perfectly normal for mailed eggs and something we’ve found consistently over many seasons of breeding and posting.
If you’re new to hatching, you can add our printed or digital Hatching Egg Guide to your basket. It covers the essentials — from humidity tips to brooder setup — without overwhelming you. A quick breeder’s tip while you’re here: once your parcel arrives, let your eggs rest for 24 hours before setting them in the incubator, as this helps the air cell settle after transit.
Quantities are limited each year, and early reservations are always given priority so we can plan pairings and ensure good rotation from our Silkie hens. We also keep a few other poultry breeds, so if you’re browsing for mixed projects you may occasionally find Brahma, Cream Legbar, or Pekin hatching eggs available.
Why Choose Silkie Chickens?
Silkies are famously gentle, friendly, and beautifully feathered — ideal for family gardens, smallholders, and those who enjoy a calm, ornamental flock. They lay a modest number of small, cream-tinted eggs but excel as broodies and companions. Their quirky looks, sweet nature, and steady temperament make them one of the most rewarding breeds to hatch and raise at home.
