Product Description

Silver Duckwing Leghorns are well known for their impressive egg production, often laying over 300 large white eggs each year. They are smaller than many hybrid hens but are full of energy and character. While they can be a little skittish at times, they’re inquisitive, active, and friendly birds that quickly become part of the flock, and rarely cause issues.

These hardy hens are a great choice for a back garden setup. They love to forage and explore, so ideally, they’ll have plenty of space to roam. If free-ranging isn’t always possible, they’ll need a large walk-in run with enrichment to keep them entertained. One of their most recognisable traits is their large comb, which flops over as they mature, giving them a distinctive and often comical appearance.

Silver Duckwing Leghorns are a great choice for first-time chicken keepers, as they’re tough, low-maintenance, and full of personality - they usually need a little bit of time to get to know you - but then don't want to leave your side!

You can expect around 300 eggs per year, white, to very pale cream.

They typically start laying between 18-20 weeks old, reaching around 50% of their laying potential by 22 weeks and full production by 30 weeks.

We highly recommend adding a supplement to support them as they come into lay—most are under £10 and can make a real difference. Moving home is already a big adjustment without the added pressure of laying an egg almost every day…https://amzn.to/3v29tj6
