Available 21st September - often spelt and number of ways, the CouCou Maran is a Black & White Speckedly egg laying hen. They are often the largest bird in the flock, they seem to always be the chunkiest bird in the hen house. Originally from France in the 1800's, these are now popular birds in the UK. It's less well known name is a Plymouth Barred Rock, and they are one of the best selling birds in Devon where they are originally named after. 

Egg colour is Light Brown, sometimes even the eggs are slightly speckled too! See if you can spot her egg in the photo below. 

You can expect approx. 300-310 eggs per year. 

Your hen may start to lay at around 18-20 weeks old, she will be laying at 50% capacity by the time she is 22 weeks old, and will be at full laying capacity at around 30 weeks old.

All livestock, including chickens, turkeys, quails, and rabbits have to be collected in person. We do not offer delivery on ANY livestock. 

We DO offer delivery on all of our hatching eggs, these are sent by Royal Mail.
